Hot Tub Time Machine is a buddy comedy of sorts about going back in time that gets better as it goes forward. You might want to skip the first fifteen or so minutes and the vomit and sh!t jokes. You'll also be missing the clumsy set-up: Three forty-something guys who life did not turn out as planned get a chance to start all over again when their hot tub takes them and a nephew back to a decisive moment in time. The Blu-ray features a rated and unrated version of Hot Tub Time Machine.
When their friend Lou (Rob Corddry) ends up in the hospital Adam and Nick (John Cusack and Craig Robinson) and Adam's nephew Jacob decide to go on a buddy trip to the ski resort they went to in their glory days. They get there, get Chevy Chase to fix the hot tub, and get transported back to 1986 when everything was in front of them.
At first the guys think they must be careful not to change the future but of course that doesn't work and they face new situations and come to a new understanding of who they were and what was going on.
Jacob's role is to hang around, make sure the guys do not change too much, and stay in touch with hot tub time machine repairman Chevy Chase.
This movie grows on you if you give it a chance and the ending is fun. Hot Tub Time Machine Blu-ray is not a keeper but a decent enough second rental kind of comedy.
Special features on the Hot Tub Time Machine Blu-ray include Deleted Scenes, Trailer, and Promotional Spots.
