In Doctor Who 130 the Five Doctors are brought together in the Death Zone of Gallifrey by some malevolent force wanting Rassilon’s secret. Through archive footage of Tom Baker, and William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, and Jon Pertwee reprising their roles as Doctor Who all five doctors unite to fight this latest foe. Hartnell lookalike Richard Hurndall helps out as the first doctor’s doppelganger.
The High Council of Time Lords enroll The Master (Anthony Ainley) to help the Doctor. This 20th anniversary BBC special for the long-running series find reason to being everybody who has been somebody in the Doctor Who serial together including Sarah Jane Smith, Susan, and villains like the Daleks, Yeti, and Cybermen.Four of the Doctors and various companions make their way to the Dark Tower for some kind of showdown. Doctor Four aka Tom Baker is trapped in some unused series footage and unable to join the games.
Episode 130 of Doctor Who is a lot of fun. Although it is much more enjoyable if you are very familiar with the series, new fans to the show will figure things out pretty quickly and be able to sit back and enjoy this episode.
Doctor Who The Five Doctors had a pretty decent budget so the special effects and so on so the show is not at all cheesy.
You have to admire the writers’ skills to combine all five Doctors in a story that holds together very well, doesn’t lag, and doesn’t depend on the series’ myth arc for comprehension.
This twentieth anniversary Doctor Who episode is one of the best in the series.
